erm, I meant to say fit perfectly into my game ;-;

But yeah, awesome sprites as always ^-^

Thank you, Pimen. These look awesome and fit perfectly!

I feel very accomplished. This year I finished two game projects, when the past 5 years I've been struggling to make just ONE.

During this game jam I learned quite a lot of things:

  • I learned how crucial it is to organize project and to plan them out and how that increased my efficiency while making this game.
  • I learned how to add "juice" to the game like hit shaders and screenshake.
  • I learned how to create spawners and how to control them with proper conditions.
  • I learned how to optimize my code.

I struggled to start developing games a long while mostly because of my procrastination but this year I was able to overcome that. I made a project a month ago and now this project which I feel pretty happy about. I don't think it's finished at all and currently it's really open-ended because I have plans for it that I hope I'll be able to commence within the coming months.

Thank you for reading! If you'd like to try the game, here it is:

I got a bit of a bad flu so it's been hard working on the game the last 2 days. I managed to do a few things, though. Let's get to the progress report:

Trello board is there as well: https://trello.com/b/LyGdUSWE/my-first-game-jam-boo

  •  Created a new tileset and it doesn't look bad imo

  • Added a few sound effects
  • Optimized the enemy spawner
  • Created a powerup spawner
  • Optimized player object hitbox

Next steps for me will be:

  • Work on the main menu
  • Fix a few bugs
  • Work on the enemy hitboxes a bit
  • Powerup spawn messages maybe

Hopefully once I fully recover I'll get back to speed :3

Good luck to everyone participating in the jam!

Then I hope you'll get to enjoy it :3

Aw thank you :3

Although it's gonna cause a lot of agony for all these people in the game, but I hope we can all be friends with him once the game jam is over

Trello board here if you'd like to see that: https://trello.com/b/LyGdUSWE/my-first-game-jam-boo

For today I have made a lot of progress. There's a lot more going on in my head than the what the first idea was.. Updates on that later.

Today's logs:

- Player and enemy objects are final.

- Flash shaders for damage indication are ready.

- Created an enemy spawner that works really well!

- Score system is in place, just needs GUI elements.

- Art is almost complete, just working on power up sprites for now.

That's it for today! I really hope once the game is ready everyone can enjoy it :3

I feel confident that I'll have it finished by the end of the submission period, I'm working double time on this!

Thus far, room has been set up, ghost has animations and can move around with boundary collisions and most sprites and sprite placeholders have been done. Ideas for the environment keep changing constantly but the main concept remains.

Hello. This is my first time joining a game jam and my second time making a game so I'm really excited!

The game I'm working on is a sort of tower defense game where you play as a ghost defending his well from the humans, who are trying to steal all the water in it. Why the ghost cares about the water in this well is unknown.

I created a Trello board to keep track of my game's progress and here it is:

https://trello.com/b/LyGdUSWE/my-first-game-jam-boo

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

Hello! My name's Mark. I'm very new to the game dev scene and I just recently created my very first game.

 2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

Haven't participated before. I'm joining because this is my first ever game jam and I also would like to improve my skills by participating

 3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

Tekken and Arma are some of my favorite games. My friend from Arma actually inspired me to make games when he started working on his Arma projects which required a lot of scripting, audio design, and pathmaking and that really inspired me seeing him on his drive for like 6 months straight.

 4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

Somewhat? I tried Gamemaker years ago and just now I got back to it. Fresh start but I now understand the DnD and GML.

I basically experimented mostly but only this year did I actually make my first game.

 5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

This whole game jam is what I'm passionate about. Creating your own worlds and your own characters in games is all I ever dreamed of doing, and accomplishing that is possible with video game development.

 6. What are your goals for this game jam?

To create a fun game that everyone would enjoy and to improve my skills.

Awesome sprite! thank you :3

We need a daddy in this game :|
